nRF7002 + nRF52840

Hi everyone!

My name is Natalia, and I’m just starting to work with Nordic. This is my first design, and I’m trying to connect the nRF7002 module to the nRF52840 microcontroller to enable Wi-Fi connectivity. I’ve been reviewing the connections on the nRF7002EK and nRF52840DK development boards, and as far as I can tell, they seem compatible.

I’m attaching the schematics here in case someone could take a look and let me know if the connections between them are correct.

We do have a 7002DK that used the nRF5340, https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ug_nrf7002_dk/page/UG/nrf7002_DK/intro.html It will be similar and the use of the 7002EK and the 52840DK is also supported.

Since you are using BLE and WIFI you will need most pins mentioned here, but SW_CTRL0 is optional when not using shared antenna. 


Terrible drawing but you should add a matching network for the BLE antenna

What values should I assign to capacitors Z1, Z2 y Z3?

There is no way of knowing exactly wat values you should have there before testing the antenna an looking at it with a VNA, but it is possible to guess some ok values. Best thing here is often to start with the antenna manufacurers recomended values. 

You are using a Johanson 2450AT18D0100E, so you can also ask them for som help here. But you can start with only a series 0 Ohm resistor before tuning, or ask them if they have any recommended values.
