Question：Can communication be achieved using only the Zigbee coordinator and end devices?

Since I am a beginner with Zigbee, I would appreciate your guidance.

Currently, I am using the nRF Connect SDK v2.8.0(Zigbee-addon) with the nRF54L15 to work with Zigbee.

I was able to get the samples for coordinator, router, and end device running, as mentioned in this thread.

From reading this thread, I understand that it is not possible to combine the coordinator and router roles.

What we would like to achieve is communication between the coordinator and end device in Zigbee, similar to the Bluetooth Central/Peripheral model.

Or do I always need a router to set up a Zigbee network?

If you have any howto or sample code for this, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Hi,

There is no need for a router in addition to the coordinator.
Zigbee coordinators have the same capabilities as routers, so the main difference is that coordinators have additional capabilities related to being a Trust Center, i.e., commissioning devices, etc.

I'm sorry for the delayed response.

After adding the necessary clusters to the Coordinator and referring to the Router sample, I was able to establish communication between the Coordinator and the End Device with just these two devices.
