If I want to use Zephyr BLE Controller stack and experiment can I use nrf connect ecosystem

Hi 
I want to make changes to the BLE Controller stack to create an implementation of a NWP. It involves 'core' changes.
Can I use the 'nrf connect' ecosystem as it comes with a very good vscode integration or should I avoid it?

"It is possible to configure projects in the nRF Connect SDK to use the Zephyr Controller. Nordic Semiconductor does not support the Zephyr Bluetooth LE Controller for production."

Thank you for the good news.

There is no intention to deploy it in a production device.

The purpose of using the Zephyr controller stack is so that I can implement an instance of a NWP (New work Proposal) regarding 'conversational auracast' to validate what will hopefully go into a future specification.

In a nutshell, I want a auracast sink device to transmit a BIS rather than receive it.

I am doing this on the assumption that Nordic are not going to give me the source code to the softdevice controller :-)
