Power Profiler Kit II

Hi,

I have 2 problems in power profiler kit II:

Problem 1: When I connect the porfiler kit II to the computer, the computer can't identify the PPK2

Porblem 2: The output voltage is lower 0.3V than nominal vlotage.

Can you help on them? Do you need more details to these two problems?

  • Hi kelvin,

Problem 1: When I connect the porfiler kit II to the computer, the computer can't identify the PPK2

    Things to try when troubleshooting:

    • Verify the PPKII is turn on, using the power switch.
    • Ensure you're using a proper USB data cable
    • Ensure that you are using the correct USB port(DATA/POWER, not POWER ONLY). Try different USB ports on your computer and avoid using USB hubs.
    • Update your USB drivers and nRF Connect for Desktop software to the latest version.
    • If the issue persists, try putting the PPK2 into bootloader mode by shorting GND-TP34 pins.

    You could also try this:

Disconnect all other nordic devices from the computer, turn off the kit and remove it from the plastic by removing the four screws. Insert USB to J2 (USB DATA/POWER). Short a connection between GND (e.g on the four pin power output header) to TP34 on the PPK2. While holding the jumper cable, turn the kit on and remove the jumper. Now the PPK2 should be in bootloader again.

Open the PPK app, and select the device which is now just a serial number.

When selecting it, the user will be prompted to program the application and it should now be working again.

Porblem 2: The output voltage is lower 0.3V than nominal vlotage.

Where do you measure this? How can you be measuring something with the PPK II if it is not recognized? What are you referring to as the nominal voltage?

If mentioned troubleshooting steps don't resolve your issues, it would be helpful if you could provide more details about your setup, including:
    • The exact version of nRF Connect for Desktop and Power Profiler app you're using
    • Your operating system
    • Any error messages you're seeing
    • The specific measurements you're getting vs. what you expect
    • A photo of your setup could be of use.
