BLE custom profile update Over the air using nRF51422

Hi everyone, I am new to nRf series and have just started to use the nRF51 Development kit(nRF51422). I am using the s130 softdevice and I have seen that the sofdevice supports over the air for the above mentioned kit. My question is that, is it possible to upgrade the nRF51422 firmware over the air with custom BLE profiles. For example, today my BLE profile is such that it measures the speed of a wheel. Tomorrow if I wish to upgrade the firmware over the air such that I want the BLE profile to measure temperature, is this custom profile update possible.

P.S : I am very new to nRF51 and also to BLE, please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,

Yes, this is possible. Any firmware you have on your chip can be fully replaced over the air. Please have a look at this tutorial on DFU.
