VSC nRF Connect only shows DK, but does not show dongle

Hi, VSC shows both DK and dongle in terminal, so nrfutil works fine (added in PATH), but does not show the dongle under Connected Devices.

I tried this under MacOS, same behaviour on Kubuntu, screenshots from Kubuntu.

When I tried to point the extension directly to the directory where all nrfutil executables are located, which is .nrfutil/bin, the extension is stuck loading.

Is not the purpose of the nRF Connect extension to "connect" to the nRF hardware? Why do I have to use "nRF Connect for Desktop - Programmer" for programming dongles?

Hello,

The dongle does not include a proper debugger/programmer over SWD, so the dongle is not very good for development, it's better for demonstration, a DK is preferred. In general you may find this useful (though a bit old):
