nPM1300 battery profiling for two parallel batteries

Hello all!

Because of very strict space requirements, we plan to use two batteries of the type ICP621333HPMT, connected in parallel and in combination with the nPM1300.

We would like to ask if there is any experiences, advices or recommendations from Nordic or anyone else when profiling two batteries in parallel?

Thanks in advance!

  • Update:

In such Parallel configurations, PMIC needs to handle cell balancing to ensure both cells are at the same voltage/capacity, which ensures safety and long battery life. The nPM1300 is designed to work with single-cell applications and does not include features such as cell balancing or other safety considerations necessary for multi-cell battery packs. Our current fuel gauge solution and the nPM1300 PMIC have not been tested with multi-cell battery packs, and we do not officially support them.

Do you plan to crate a custom pack where you include protection circuity boards with cell balancing?

    Regards

    Runar

  • We are still evaluating the best options, but yes, let's assume that we would use some protection circuit. Using such, would battery profiling still be possible and supported by the current battery model?
