nrf52840 DK power section heating

Hi,

I have a NRF52840 DK , I was using it for development. After one day the board don't turn ON anymore. I'm using USB cable as a power source. Acording to several subject I tried to turn it on holding the RESET button to enter the bootloader but nothing happen.

While using the USB cable the power section start to heat a lot, especially the L80 component (4.7µH Shielded Wirewound Inductor 2.23A 201 mOhm Max Nonstandard). And the shield of this inductor is a little bit broken/rip off. 

Anyway we are planning to use the waranthy but I would like to know if I did something wrong.

What version of the DK do you have? 

The sticker should say something like this:
             PCA10056
Version 3.0.2
Date      2024.11


Date and version can be relevant. Dont need the bottom number, so no need to share that.

Not aware of any similar issues in this batch, but if you go for the warranty and get a new one. Can you share the last ID on the sticker, the segger ID. This way we can check the log and update the logs. 

Can you also share a image of the damage you see? And maybe the box also. It can happen that the kits get damaged in shipping. 

Anyway we are planning to use the waranthy but I would like to know if I did something wrong.

Just using the USB and connecting and writing to the device should not result in the unit stop working. So warranty should do the trick.
