DK Evaluation of BLE Direction Finding

Hi all,

I am trying to decide what DK I should go for if I want to test out the BLE Direction Finding capabilities of the SoC.

I am interested in getting the nRF5340-DK but when looking through it all, I dont see any place I can connect an antenna array (or do I see it wrong?).

I noticed that there is a SWF RF connector for direct RF measurements but nothing for connecting an Antenna array for testing out the direction finding capabilities. Do you just connect it to the SWF RF Connector? or is there another way that I am missing?

Could you please help me out, so I can decide what DK to buy in order to start the evaluation and then development process?

Thanks in advance!!!

  • Hi,

While it does depend somewhat on the antenna board and rest of the solution, if you use a DK for the nRF SoC then you should use the antenna connector on the DK, yes, as well as connect some GPIOs for the switching signal. Please note that there are some modules out there with both antenna array and nRF SoC, if I recall correctly at least for the nRF52833. In order to connect to the SWF RF Connector on an nRF5340 DK, the antenna array must obviously have the correct cocnnector, as well as connection possibilities for the antenna switching.
