Getting started without programmer

Hello,

I am completely new to Nordic eco system. What I basically want to do is make a simple bluetooth mouse using a module and the Connect SDK with the HID sample.

Now the first hurdle is how to get the firmware on the chip. I would like to use the nRF52832 Bluetooth Low Energy Module - MDBT42Q-512KV2 from Adafruit. But how do I get the firmware on the chip without purchasing a Jlink (as this is out of my budget)?

I looked out the NRF52840-DONGLE. This has a SWD. Now the simple question is: can I flash the nRF52832 module on a custom board using the nRF52840 dongle and Nordic connect SDK? Do I have to reconfigure the dongle somehow in order to program the connected custom board?

Just one more question. I found all the schematics and how to connect the custom board via P20. How do I select which MCU is supposed to be programmed? Meaning how do I tell the board if it should flash the on board MCU U1 or my custom board? Is that done with the GND DETECT line?
