nRF5340 Hardware Stackup (e.g. PCA10143)

I am looking for an example 6 layer stackup for the use of the nRF5340 / nRF7002 combo that has been proven producible by pcb manufacturs. The nRF5340-QKAA requires microvias in the second row to go to a lower layer for fanout. Nordic provides the Gerber for the eval boards e.g. PCA10143 or https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ps_nrf52840/page/ref_circuitry.html#layout but it does not provide information on the exact stackup prepreg/core thickness/type.

Looking for help to get me up to speed: what stackups did you use successfully for these devices and in what configuration?

  • The microvias are needed because conventional vias can't be made small enough to be placed in the pad. Microvias are always blind, so you have these from layer 1 to layer 2 only for the fan out of the inner row of pads. Else, there are no additional complication by adding more layers to the PCB.
