We're starting new medical research project where we have to send data at rate of around 4Mbps from the sensor array for a distance (omnidirectional) of around 2 meters. The transmitter will be placed on a small rodent, therefore power consumption, weight and dimensions are crucial. On the sender site I have power budget of max 50mW, but of course the smaller the better. Can you suggest which protocol and transceiver can be used to achieve above requirement?

Hello,

The perfect fit would likely be the nRF54L15, however the peak on-air transfer is 4Mbps, but with radio startup time, acknowledge, and possible retransmits etc, the actual realistic throughput will be lower than that. Likely 2-3Mbps is more realistic, are you able to compress the data in some way?

At this moment I don't see possibility of further decreasing the data flow rate (below 4Mbps). Is there another option?

Hypothetically, if I was able to decrease it to 2Mbps which protocol would I have to use. I see nRF54L15 is designed with lot of protocols in mind. What would be then most efficient/suitable approach?

If you need effective stable 4Mbps, the only option I expect is using nRF7002 (wifi):
