How to fix KConfig warnings errors/Build errors of WiFi Fundamentals lessons(Recently updated tool chains and sdk to latest ncs 2.9 from 2.4, but have not checked the build then), what should I do to fix it?

Hello there,

I was going through the Wifi fundamentals courses lessons in nordic academy and was using ncs 2.4 version, I was able to give it a build for one example,(but not all give proper build)and you can see the output here.

Then later I updated the tool chain and sdk to latest version 9 and I tried to give the build again and ran in to these issues here.

The errors are abort due to Kconfig warnings:(ncs 2.9)

Can anyone tell me where to look to fix this issue? I understand that sysbuild is introduced now, but this is something strange that I am unable to debug it for now as some.

Some observations: In the screenshots, lesson 2_1 builds properly with ncs 2.4 but fails with ncs 2.9, and  other lessons show similar behavior of Kconfig warnings.

eg: lesson 2_2 build error.

I would appreciate any suggestions or insights in to this, so that I can resolve it and thank you for your time.

Hi,

Support for nRF Connect SDK v2.9.0 in the Wi-Fi Fundamentals course is currently under development. The updated code can be found on the dev branch: https://github.com/NordicDeveloperAcademy/wifi-fund/tree/dev. Please note that this is not finished, so there might be issues.

When it comes to lesson 2 exercise 1, the exercise will be changed to use the Wi-Fi Shell sample in the SDK instead of having its own code. The exercise text has not been updated yet, but I have attached a draft of the updated text.

Okay thank you so much for the update and that makes so much sense, do you recommend any previous versions of tool chains/sdk, that I can switch back for now to work with course? (eg: ncs 2.8). Intention is to wait until they fully release/complete the updated versions, while working on stable existing tool versions.

Hi,

I recommend using v2.6.2 or v2.6.3, that is, before sysbuild was introduced since sysbuild support is part of the update that is under development.

Hey Just a followup update,

I tried (lesson 2 exer 2)with 2.6.3 and still encountered errors(not Kconfig related, but Cmake), so I was curious to know if you have any thoughts on  this issue.

Cmake warnings:

The error points to file secure_fw(which Cmake warned too).
