Can I earbuds or headphones to nRF52832

I'd like to use the nRF52832 for cost reasons & I know there are different Bluetooth audio standards, which the nRF52832 does nto support the latest. I don't need hi quality so can I still pair bluetooth earbuds to this device? If so, will the latest earbuds pair ordo I can to only use an older type?

  • Hi John,

Since you wish to pair earbuds, I assume you need a continuous real-time streaming ?

Then it might be difficult to achieve this with the nRF52832 owing to the latency issues and I would recommend you to look into the nRF5340.

    Regards,

  • Hi Priyanka, Thank you for your response. I don't need any complex audio. It's just audio feedback. I would like to test & allow my cutomer to decide if the latency is acceptable. Please can you answer my question regarding new & old earbuds pairing with the nRF52832

  • Hi John,

The issue with using nRF52832 is that it has too little RAM and does not have enough processing power to encode/decode the audio streams. So that makes it unfit for LE Audio.

    Also,

will the latest earbuds pair ordo I can to only use an older type?

"Old" earbuds means they are using Bluetooth Classic, which is not suitable for LE Audio.

But "new" earbuds, if they support Bluetooth LE, then yes, they can support LE Audio, but if they don't then they are also unsuitable for LE Audio.

I would suggest you to contact our Sales Team for the same as they might have more insights on products suitable for your use case.

    Regards,

    Priyanka
