LiPo battery recommendation for nrf5340 Audio DK

I would like to know the recommended battery part that is suggested by nordic to work with the nrf5340 Audio DK. I saw some blogposts where it was mentioned that a 3.7V 1500mah lipo battery comes with the kit. I am assuming due to shipping restrictions on batteries, I didn't receive a battery in my kits. 

Regardless, i would like to buy a battery to start testing the board battery-powered. I couldn't find much details on the specifications for the battery in any nrf5340 Audio DK documentation. Can you please recommend be a list of suggested battery parts which i can procure for my application?

Hi,

In the past, nrf5340_audio-dk packages included the battery, but this is not the case anymore. For your reference, the battery that was provided with the nrf5340_audio-dk board was LiPo battery 3.7 V, 1500mAh.

Can you please recommend be a list of suggested battery parts which i can procure for my application? 

You could try to look for battery with the same specifications as previously mentioned. You could get more information about available parts from your local distributor.

While i am able to get a battery with 3.7V 1500mAh capacity, i am not able to get one with the same 3 pin JST connector with a thermistor signal pin coming out. Having a part number of the one sent previously with the kit would help me to look for similar products

Thanks for sharing the link for the BOM and hardware files. I couldnt get much information on the exact manufacturer's part number for the LiPo battery that was sent with the kit previously.

Alternatively, I have ordered a similar battery with wires and ordered the mating connector (cable assembly) for J3 connector the nrf5340-AudioDK kit.

I will try this out and let you know if this setup works for me.

Hi Dejan,

Can you suggest me documentation or samples to test the battery out? Possibly getting to know the charging status of the battery, battery level and similar information from the nPM1100 on-board.

I tried using bt_bas_get_battery_level() (if that is one approach) but the value is always 100 even when the battery is disconnected.

Hi,

In nPM1100 product specification, there is a chapter on battery monitoring and low battery indication. If you have nrf5340-dk and nPM1300 EK, there are two nPM1300 pmic samples that you could use - one button and fuel gauge.

Hey dejans 

I took a pause on this for a while since i was working on the other part of the project.I have connected the battery to the board, all i can see is the chg LED lit and nothing else. I want to get more understanding about the battery voltage or maybe a simple fuel guage application.

I am using the nrf5340 Audio DK kit. This kit has an on-board npm1100 chip so, Is there a way to communicate with the chip? i see that the USB lines are connected to the usb-hub on-board.

Also, Is communication possible between the nrf5340 and the npm1100 on the Audio DK kit?
