LiPo battery recommendation for nrf5340 Audio DK

I would like to know the recommended battery part that is suggested by nordic to work with the nrf5340 Audio DK. I saw some blogposts where it was mentioned that a 3.7V 1500mah lipo battery comes with the kit. I am assuming due to shipping restrictions on batteries, I didn't receive a battery in my kits.

Regardless, i would like to buy a battery to start testing the board battery-powered. I couldn't find much details on the specifications for the battery in any nrf5340 Audio DK documentation. Can you please recommend be a list of suggested battery parts which i can procure for my application?

  • Hi,

In the past, nrf5340_audio-dk packages included the battery, but this is not the case anymore. For your reference, the battery that was provided with the nrf5340_audio-dk board was LiPo battery 3.7 V, 1500mAh.

Can you please recommend be a list of suggested battery parts which i can procure for my application?

You could try to look for battery with the same specifications as previously mentioned. You could get more information about available parts from your local distributor.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

  • While i am able to get a battery with 3.7V 1500mAh capacity, i am not able to get one with the same 3 pin JST connector with a thermistor signal pin coming out. Having a part number of the one sent previously with the kit would help me to look for similar products

  • Hi,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to purchase only batteries from Nordic.

  • You referred me to the Key Features for the Audio DK and the Key Features says the kit comes with:

    But it did not.

The battery that was supposed to come with the unit is a 3-wire battery. The battery that used to come with the kit as shown in YouTube videos is 3-wire.

The battery in the BOM is listed as "UFX 803450". That battery is 2-wire.

So here I am wondering if Nordic doesn't have a battery available is there possibly a pre-assembled, ready-to-go, 3rd party battery that can be recommended?

Or is there a proper battery with the 3-wire that can be recommended and then I'll put on my own connector?

I am not opposed to making my own but the information available doesn't seem to match what's needed.

  • Hi,

There are 3-wire batteries that you can find online if you search for Li-ion polymer battery 1500 mAh 3.7 V 3-wire battery.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. To clarify, we were shipping audio-dk boards with the battery in the past. However, due to safety concerns we have stopped with this practice. Unfortunately, our documentation was not updated properly to reflect this newly adopted practice. I have reported this internally so that this can be fixed. I apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
