Flashing nrf52840 dongle with J-Link Mini EDU?

Hi,

I recently bought a J-Link Mini EDU and a Tag-Connect TC2050-IDC cable (bought the legged version for some reason, but I guess I can break the legs). I wanted to use them to flash/debug the nrf52840 dongle but I can't figure out how to connect the J-Link cable with the Tag-Connect one. Is there an adapter available? I saw there was an adapter for the regular commercial J-Link but it doesn't seem to have the same connecter as the Mini EDU version. Or maybe I can try to connect them manually with jumper wires? Those things are expensive...

Thanks.

    You can do this.

P1 is possible to use but you need to solder on a connector(HDR_2x5-SMD-1.27mm) here or just solder directly on to it.  The dongle does not come with the connector mounted.

But if you are going for the soldering directly on to it option then you also have other options.
The J2 pogo pin connector interface can also be used with a 10 pin pogo connector.

Looks like you have a tag pogo pin connector there, it should work if it is 10pin.

  • The problem is the other end of my pogo connector doesn't fit on my SEGGER J-Link edu mini... See the two connectors I am holding in the picture. Are they the same pins but the Tag-Connect connector is just bigger? If that's the case I'll just put jumper wire to connect the small connector from the J-Link to the big one from Tag-Connect.
