Custom board is changed every time I go into the board menu

Using VS Code and latest version of SDK and toolchains. I have created some custom board definitions and placed them in a seperate directory. The directory is registered in extension settings so that NRF connect can find them.

Every time I open the build menu (with Edit Build Configuration), the "Board target" selection is changed it changed to something like "nrf7002dk/nrf5440/cpuapp/ns". If i do not remember to change it back to my own board, I will end building for another board making all kind of problems.

My custom boards are in the menu when I select "Custom", but maybe the problem appears because the page will open with "Compatible" in the board target selection.

It is quite annoying, especially in the beginning, I am getting used to it..

  • Hello,

I understand the issue and agree that it can be quite frustrating. Unfortunately, there is no workaround at the moment. I’ve reported this internally, and the issue is planned to be addressed in an upcoming release of the extension. However, I'm unable to provide a specific timeline at this stage.

    Kind regards,
    Abhijith

  • Can I add to this - it would be super useful if there was a way to tell the extension which boards we own/want to see. Running through the academy with the nrf52840dk - it's painful having to search through the list everytime, often looking for a couple of characters part way through the name.
I resorted to removing the files for the devkits I don't own (I'm sure that won't come back and bite me at some point), but it would be nice if there were a more user friendly approach.
