Request for Guidance on Selecting a Suitable Classic Bluetooth Module for Class 3 Medical Device

Hello Nordic Team,

I am currently working on a Class 3 medical device that requires time-critical communication. I am exploring options for integrating Classic Bluetooth functionality and would like your recommendation on selecting the most suitable nRF-based module or part number that supports Classic Bluetooth (if available).

Specifically, I am looking for:

1. A Nordic module or chipset that supports Classic Bluetooth and is suitable for medical-grade, time-sensitive applications.
2. Guidance on whether Nordic offers any certified modules or reference designs that would be ideal for such use cases.
3. Information on the technical support and software development resources (SDKs, APIs, documentation, etc.) that Nordic provides for Bluetooth Classic development.

Your insights will be extremely helpful in selecting the right solution for our application.

There are no Nordic device that supports Bluetooth Classic, only Bluetooth LE.

As discussed earlier, BLE modules are acceptable for our application. We are developing a Class III medical device, and we are currently evaluating suitable Nordic BLE modules that meet the following criteria:

• Compliance with Class III medical device standards
• Availability of global certifications, including: FCC, CE, UKCA, ISED, RCM, MIC, KC, Giteki and Bluetooth SIG Qualification

Could you please recommend any Nordic BLE modules that align with these requirements? Additionally, if you could share information regarding the product lifecycle status (e.g., EOL or long-term availability) of the suggested modules, it would greatly assist us in making an informed decision.

Your guidance is highly appreciated as we move forward with our design and regulatory planning.

As there are quite a few options, we’re finding it challenging to evaluate each one individually against our specific requirements. Is there a way to filter or narrow down the list based on key features such as low-latency BLE performance, Class III medical device suitability, and global certifications (e.g., FCC, CE, UKCA, MIC, KC, Giteki, Bluetooth SIG)?

If possible, could you kindly recommend a few modules that are best aligned with the use case we’ve described in our earlier messages? A shortlist of well-suited options would be greatly appreciated and would help us move forward with our evaluation.
