Pipe Status Event

Hi. Im beginner in BLE.I have a question. how PipesOpen bitmap in Pipe Status Event create? is it sent from smartphone application to nRF and nRF sends them in Pipe status event to MicroController? I didn't find explanation about this. can explain more for me or refer me to a document?
