RF signal can penetrate the container?

Hello Nordic experts, I am FAE of Avnet - Johnson CHEN. Thanks for your support in advance. Regarding the applicatioin: GLOBAL FLEET ASSET TRACKING Which is in product related news page, www.nordicsemi.com/.../Global-fleet-tracking-solution-combines-2.4GHz-and-868-915MHz-RF-technology-from-Nordic-Semiconductor-to-track-and-monitor-asset-trains-as-long-as-100m

You can see that RFID tags mounted on boxs which are in the container, and RFID reader is outside of container. I am curious about how RF signal can penetrate the container? Can you tell me how they make it happen? (let RF signal penetrate the container ) Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards, Johnson CHEN

  • It looks like a DASH7/opentag system in Nordic way.

  • Hi Johnson, it is my understanding here that there is an access connection to the container for electrical supply etc. I believe there is a cable data connection between the internal RF system and the external RF system. So it is not reliant on RF penetration through the container walls themselves
