[nRF8001] Cannot enable Write on characteristic

I'm trying to add a characteristic to a service in nRFGo Studio with the Write propery enabled. However, the software doesn't allow me to enable Write and greys the checkbox out (see screenshot). The characteristic is on a local service.

Reading through the nRF8001 documentation, it seems it should be possible to enable Write (see screenshot).

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Well, it seems it is because I'm using the C revision of the chip. When I select D from the device dropdown, the checkbox is enabled.

About time to get some new chips it seems!
