BLE Sniff Channel support

Hello Nordic,

We have recently purchased an nRF52840 Dongle. We were able to sniff the BLE packets over the air. So it is found that all the packets that we are able to see in the capture are from the primary advertisement channels in BLE so I would like to query that if it is possible to have any firmware or hexadecimal file which can actually give a feasibility for us to capture the packets not only from the primary advertisement channels but from the entire spectrum of the BLE. 

And we would also like to query that if this thing that we are observing is it a hardware limitation or it is a firmware level limitation.

As described in the Sniffing the pairing procedure of a connection section of the Sniffer UG, you need to select the device from the dropdown menu first if you want to be able to follow the connection.

How can I get to know whether the devices that I have use Legacy Passkey or Legacy OOB data

how do you know it's passkey pairing? Please post capture file and other information that may be relevant.

I used two mobile phones to pair and when the pairing happens a six digit pass key will be generated on both sides and then we need to confirm that key and click on pay button right. So that sort of connection that was.

And also on top of that I can help see the Bluetooth Mac address of my mobile phone in the bluetooth settings but when it comes to the PCAP I am seeing some other mac address here

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to sniff the BLE connection between two phones. That won't work because they use LE Secure Connections pairing, and the OS (android or iOS) won't expose the encryption keys.

Is there a way to connect an nRF 52840 Dongle to an nRF 52840 DK and then run Traffic between those two while DK acting as the peripheral and Dongle initiating the connection?

Unfortunately, no. The dongle can not both be in a connection and operate as a sniffer. You can however sniff the connection between a DK and your phone. If the DK FW is based on the nRF Connect SDK, you can enable CONFIG_BT_LOG_SNIFFER_INFO to have the encryption key printed out in the debug log.
