Replacement Batteries for Thingy52

I had like three Thingy52s for a project and have just come back to it after about a year.

The batteries are now dead and the device does NOT seem to want to charge.

All three batteries breaking seems suspicious but maybe they are so dead that the charging circuit does not work.

Are there any replacement LiPo batteries that can be used or does anyone have a suggestion for getting these three usd$50 devices back from the dead?

  • Hi Joseph,

Your Li-Po batteries might be deeply discharged (you can check the voltage and if it's below 3V, then this is the reason why the onboard charger won't charge it).

It's not recommended to try and replace the battery first itself as this can cause permanent damage. Maybe you could try to slowly raise the battery voltage by connecting an external Li-Po charger with a low-voltage recovery mode. This might help you to being the battery voltage to above 3V after which the inbuilt charger can resume it's operation.
