nPM2100 : Is in single button mode, the ship mode is still available ?

Hi,

Due to pcb constrain, we need to use single button mode with PG/RESET routed to SHPHLD.  In this mode long press for reset in the datasheet but nothing is said about entering ship mode.  Does ship mode still work with long press or is it disabled ?

Thank,

Hoan

  • Hi Nguyen,

it’s explicitly documented in the nPM2100 datasheet. In the Single-button configuration section (7.5 Reset, page 72), it says:

“This enables a single button to be used to exit Ship mode, and as a reset button through a long press. This configuration disables reset button functionality from pin PG/RESET.”

In other words, Ship mode (2 s press on SHPHLD) remains fully available; holding the same pin longer (t_RST_DEB_L, 10 s default) simply invokes the power-cycle reset. You could do a  quick 2 second hold on SHPHLD puts the device into (or wakes it from) Ship mode. If you keep holding past the 2 seconds up to roughly 10 seconds, it will instead perform a full power-cycle reset.
