CL5G (nrf9160) modem going to unresponsive state when sending multiple packets at same instance.

Hi Team,

Recently we did a network related testing for our CL5G modem (nrf9160) and observed a problem, in this test we used a nmap tool, this tool will search for open ports on the network, and it sends a lot of traffic to it.

When we performed this test, CL5G went to out of network (no responses for ping commands), and it coming to online after some time randomly (sometimes for 10mins, 30mins and more than 60mins, also sometimes it not coming until reboot).

Test engineer mentioned that if you send a lot of traffic or multiple packets at once, radio is not able to handle and going to some faulty condition. And he suggested we can address this problem by restricting to receive only specific number of packets per second (example only 2 packets/sec).

Also, we are observing same problem with eDRX enabled. We are running our CL5G modem in eDRX mode with PTW window 7.68sec and eDRX cycle 81.92sec. We open the TCP listening server in the device and wait for the incoming connection, from the host side (tcp client side) it will try multiple connection attempts until it hits in PTW window duration. In this scenario also modem behaving similarly.

Could you please help me to understand how we can handle this scenario? Is there any AT command available to restrict to receiving multiple packets at same instance?

we are using SDK v1.7.1 and radio firmware version v1.3.1

Best Regards,

Raja Kumar.
