nRF9151 DK External Power Supply Issue

Hello, as the title suggests, I have an issue when powering the nRF9151 DK with an external power supply. Normally, I power through USB, and it's fine. However, when I followed this guide: https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ug_nrf9151_dk/page/UG/nrf91_DK/hw_description/nrf9161_power_supply.html

to connect 5V supply to the VIN 5V pin, the LED5 keeps flashing constantly at a very high rate. I'm not sure what the issue is and how I can fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi,

Blinking LED5 indicates that there is no communication over USB. This behavior is expected when you have provided power through an external power supply instead of connecting with the USB cable.

If you have an application on the board which communicates with the cloud, or otherwise is reachable from the outside world, then you should be able to verify that the board works as expected through performing the normal testing you would do for communicating with the board.

If the application on the board behaves differently than when you connect with the USB cable, then please share a picture of your setup as well as the board configurator setup for the board.

    Regards,
    Terje

  • Hello,

Thank you for your quick response. Is there a way to stop LED5 from blinking? The reason why I asked is I also have the nRF21540 DK, and when I use external power, the LED5 doesn't behave like that and just turns off.
