Feature request: Search and sort in the device list

In nRF cloud, in the device list (https://app.nrfcloud.com/#/devices) it is difficult to manage larger number of devices because of lack of search and limited sorting.

I have not found a way to do these two things:

1. Search by device ID or name

2. Sort by online state (online/offline, for example as shown by the green dot next to MQTT)

I would like to add these as feature requests for nRF Cloud.

Thanks!

  • Hi Terrence,

The nRF Cloud portal does support filtering devices by type, name, or ID. You can access this by selecting Device Management > Devices and then clicking Filter above the device table. From there, you can filter by device type, name, or ID, depending on the devices in your team. However, this is a filter rather than a free-text search. See hereFiltering devices.

I can forward your request for an enhanced search and sorting by online state to the nRF Cloud team.

    Regards,

    Swathy

  • Hi Swathy,

Thanks for the quick reply. OK, I didn't realize the Filter function could be used for that. Because when I tried it, it doesn't work as expected: Sometimes, it finds all devices that match the substring, sometimes only one, and sometimes none at all -- even though without a filter I see the respective devices in the list directly below. And then, when I try it later, it gives me different results again,

So my feature request turns into a bug report ;-)
