Is the nRF9160 compatible with Zephyr’s New Modem Subsystem?

Hi,

I am developing a product that has a nRF52840 as the main MCU and it controls a Quectel BG95 (a LTE-M/NB-IoT module, powered by Qualcomm's 9205 LTE modem) using Zephyr's Modem Subsystem.

For those not familiar, more info on Zephyr's unified interface for modem drivers can be found at the following link:

[whispering] Don't tell Quectel, but I'd like to swap the Quectel BG95 out for a nRF9160. However, I wish to keep the nRF52840 as the main MCU (it's a very BLE-focused product) and I want to continue to use Zephyr's Modem Subsystem with the nRF9160 so that not only is the transition mostly seamless, but so I don't have to write or maintain firmware for the nRF9160. I want to use the nRF9160 as a modem, controlled by the nRF52840, and I don't want to run my own application code on the nRF9160.

Is the nRF9160 compatible with Zephyr's Modem Subsystem? If so, can you please point me towards instructions on how to set up the nRF9160 (i.e. what image to program onto it)?

Many thanks.
