NRF connect example for Thingy52 onboard microphone

Hi, I've spent a few hours trying to figure out a way to use the onboard PDM microphone on Thingy52 with the nRF Connect SDK.

I saw a pull request for one from a member of the Nordic team here, but in discussions, it was abandoned in 2021.

To me, the biggest advantage of developing products with Nordic ecosystem is that you can expect their products to work well with each other. The microphone support on nrf52 in nRF Connect fell very short of that.

Am I missing something here? If not, are there any plans to improve on this?

Hello, 

The Thingy:52 is an older prototyping platform that unfortunately did not get the same focus as our newer prototyping platform i.e. Thingy:53. That said, there should be support for this in the Zephyr repository. MP34DB02 MEMS microphone from ST was used on the latest Thingy:52 at least, which is also supported in Zephyr.

Unfortunately, the Thingy:52 support in Zephyr is community based and not provided by Nordic. I would strongly advise in looking at the Thingy:53 as I know this works with several samples in the nRF Connect SDK.
