Using nRF8001 To Advertise Battery Level

Is it possible to use an nRF8001 without a separate microcontroller to advertise non-connectable advertising packets specifically containing battery level information only? If so, please comment on the configuration requirements. Thanks.

I would like to do the same but with a nRF51822. Its possible to advertise the battery level with this chip?

The device will not connect to anything so that is why I'd like to include this information in the advertisement package.

If its not possible, what solution do you recommend me?

you should be able to do so with the nRF51822 as well.
