BLE connected range much shorter than advertising range on nRF54L15 (NCS v3.0.2)

Hi Nordic team,

We are using the nRF54L15 with nRF Connect SDK v3.0.2 for a BLE-based product.

We’ve observed something strange as below:

• Advertising range is excellent, up to 100 to 130 meters in open air.

• But once connected, the device disconnects after ~20–25 meters.

Even though we have set CONFIG_BT_CTLR_TX_PWR_PLUS_8=y

What is reason after connection range dropped so drastically? What could be possible solution?

Hello,

After the connection is established, you also depend on receiving TX packets from the other device. Increasing the TX power of your board won’t help if you can’t receive the other device’s responses. Are you using the same board on both sides of the link, and are they configured with the same TX power?

No, I have used both Android Phone and iPhone.

That worked. Now connected range improved to 70 meter.
