PCA64110-NFC antenna thickness questions

Hi everybody. Can I ask for the details of this PCA64110 flex NFC antenna:

Q) Is this flex antenna using "Gold Fingers"? If so, what is the Gold Fingers Thickness?

Q) What is the Coverlay Thickness? I see the Coverlay region near the connector side

Thank you all!

  • Thank you Jonathan!

    About H=1.2mm

    Q) is this the total flex PCB thickness without the gold fingers and coverlays?

Or was that the thickness of the gold fingers?

    Q) Was polyimide (PI) material selected for the coverlay?

H is for the connector that we use on the PCB.

The total thickness is 0.3mm approximately at the stiffener, and that is with the finger as well, measured 0.31mm with a caliper.

On the mechanical layer 4 in the files you can see that it says 0.3mm.

For the thickness of just the flex it is about 0.22mm, if measuring just the edge of the flex plastic then i would get 0.17mm and for the area with the traces and via i get about 0.26mm.

Not sure what is used, but you should be able to pick among a wide range of materials as this will not effect the RF performance here since the NFC operates at 13.56 MHz.

So you can work together with your manufacturer to find what best fits your use case. The main criteria here is to make sure that it fits well with the connector you use.
