Coded PHY has poor reception rate

When advertising using Coded PHY with the nRF54L, the reception rate is half to one-third compared to 1M PHY, even at short distances (sufficient RSSI). The receiving device is a smartphone. Could there be a problem on the smartphone (and chipset) side? Also, please let me know if there are any points to be aware of when programming the nRF54L.

Hi Takunori,

Could you please clarify what you mean by reception rate? If you mean throughput or actual data rate, yes it will be lower with Coded PHYs. The Coded PHYs use the same physical layer bitrate which is 1 Mbps, but then the channel coding part comes into play . You can have either 500kbps or 125kbps with Coded PHYs. The advantage of having channel coding and reduced throughput is that you get better sensitivity and longer range and it is suitable for noisy environment or long distance applications.

Thank you for your response. The reception rate means that with 1Mbps, we can be sure to receive a single advertisement, whereas with Coded PHY, we can only receive it once every two or three times.

That is expected to have longer time for each advertising event for Coded PHYs compared to non-coded.
