BLE Mesh not able do device firmware update from distributor to target devices

I am able to successfully perform a firmware upgrade on the Distributor itself. However, when attempting to upgrade the Target devices, the mobile app shows Upload Complete, but the firmware is not being transmitted to the Target nodes. What could be the possible cause of this issue?

I updated the firmware version from 1.0 to 2.0 in the proj config file. Are there any additional changes required apart from updating the version? Also, is it mandatory to configure a Publish Address for the Firmware Update Client model, or will the Distributor automatically transmit the firmware to all target nodes regardless of the address? Currently, when I attempt to set a Publish Address for the Firmware Update Client model, I receive an Invalid Parameter error.

Not directly configure the publish address for the Firmware Update Client model, no. However you must configure the distributor with a list of target addresses and what firmware image they should be given. Please see Bluetooth Mesh Profile - Device Firmware Update (DFU) for a full overview of the process.

It seems like i need to enter target address through shell command. May i know syntax to enter target address through shell command?

Hi,

This can be done using the receivers-add shell command, e.g.:

mesh models dfd receivers-add 0x0004,0;0x0005,0

The above line adds addresses 0x0004 and 0x0005 for the firmware image at index 0.

Thanks for your reply but we are more interested to set the target device address through mobile app. Is it possible to do that if we modify the distributor code?

Hi,

This should work out-of-the-box with the latest release of the iOS nRF Mesh app. No need to modify the distributor. The app should recognize the distributor, and provide the functionality for selecting target nodes for the firmware update.

I tried with iphone. when i try to upload the file from dfu app. it says invalid manifest.json file. I changed the proj.cofi file with higher version like 2.0 0+0 and added led blink code in main.c only.
