nPM2100 Initial Turn-on Process

To confirm, when connecting a power source to VBAT for the first time, nPM2100 will automatically transition to Active mode assuming the power source can deliver enough current?

This is what's shown in Figure 9, correct?

Specifically, I'm looking to confirm that upon battery insertion, the PMIC must enter Active mode first before entering Ship mode.

Yes that is correct. It will go to active state first and only after that you can enter ship mode.
