Can I perform channel sounding using nRF Connect SDK v2.9.2 ?

Hi,

I would like to perform channel sounding on nRF54L15 DK,

I tried to compile sample "channel_sounding_ras_initiator" in nRF Connect SDK v2.9.2, but error message says "Error finding board".

Does it means nRF Connect SDK v2.9.2 is not support channel sounding sample, or did I compile it incorrectly?

Also, is it necessary to have two nRF54L15 DKs to perform channel sounding ?

Hi Ken

Yes, it's possible to do Channel Sounding in NCS 2.9.2, but we've made a lot of improvements to the Channel Sounding architecture and samples in NCS 3.1.0, and we're still working on improving the channel sounding features.

What have you tried connecting the channel sounding initiator on your end? You need another device that supports channel sounding to correctly connect to it, so we recommend using two nRF54L15, one with the initiator and one with the responder sample project.

I noticed that nRF Connect for Desktop does not support version beyond v2.9.2.

How can I update to NCS 3.1.0 ?

As of NCS v3.0.0, we recommend installing SDKs/Toolchains from the Visual Code Studio extension for nRF Connect SDK directly. Either that, or you can use the command line to install the SDK as per our documentation here: https://docs.nordicsemi.com/bundle/ncs-latest/page/nrf/installation/install_ncs.html
