Role Switching SoftDevice Support

Does anybody know of any plans to combine the Peripheral and Central roles into a single SoftDevice?

The killer application that this provides is the ability to create multi-hop BLE networks, such as can be seen in the light blue cortado/. Unfortunately, that device is based on TI's cc2540 which requires you to purchase a prohibitively expensive toolchain+IDE. The cc2540 only has 8KB of RAM and 128/256KB of Flash, so it seems this should be possible on the nRF51822.
