How to tell if Proprietary PSM is working?

We want to be able to see if Proprietary PSM is working to determine if our device should reduce uplinks to save battery.

Is there a way to show that the Proprietary PSM is active and working? Or do we just assume it's working?

With normal PSM, we look at the ACT and TAU values to see if the network accepted the PSM request. But with Proprietary PSM we don't see those values change.

  • Since our proprietary PSM works by powering the device down without informing the operator, as long as it still awakens for the required signaling it should be fine, but technically the device is supposed to be reachable the whole time.

It shouldn't be much of an issue for sending the data from the device to the cloud, but if you also send the data to the device, then proprietary PSM should be switched off at least for that time.
