Debugging hello nrfcloud

We are in the process of developing a product using the Thingy91:X as reference. 

We need to modify the hello-nrfcloud firmware to suit our application.

Could you suggest the best approach to creating a debug version of the firmware and which tools to use for debugging.

I am guessing one uses Segger JFlash connected to the debug connector and setting the switch the rRF91

We need to modify the hello-nrfcloud firmware to suit our application.

We would recommend starting with the Asset Tracker template when designing an application for the Thingy:91 X. As described in the documentation, it is a framework for developing IoT applications on nRF91-based devices. It is built on the nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr RTOS, and provides a modular, event-driven architecture suitable for battery-powered IoT use cases. The framework supports features such as cloud connectivity, location tracking, and sensor data collection.

If you are new to our cellular applications or have not done the course in a while, we recommend going through the Cellular IoT Fundamentals training in our Developer Academy. If you have a nRF9151DK you can use this as a external debugger to program the Thingy:91 X, or you can use e.g. a Segger JLink BASE Compact.

Yes, make sure to set the switch to nRF91, as the nRF5340 SoC is primarily used to add USB connectivity to the Nordic Thingy:91 X.
