Request for Repair or Support – Damaged nRF9151 DK Board (Power Failure)

While testing UART communication between a Seeed XIAO board and the nRF9151 DK,
I connected the following pins:
- XIAO 3.3 V → DK VDD
- XIAO GND → DK GND
- XIAO TX → DK RX
- XIAO RX → DK TX

Immediately after powering the XIAO board, the nRF9151 DK powered off and has
since failed to turn on. No LEDs or activity from the on-board debugger are visible.

Observed behavior:
------------------
- Board does not power on via USB or external supply.
- Power LED and SEGGER J-Link LEDs remain off.
- No current draw observed beyond a few mA.
- Measured 3.3 V rail appears partially shorted or regulator may be damaged.

Suspected cause:
----------------
Back-powering from external 3.3 V (XIAO board) may have damaged
the DK’s on-board regulator or protection circuitry.

Request:
--------
1. Please confirm if the nRF9151 DK can be serviced or replaced in Pakistan.
2. If not, kindly advise the recommended process to send the board for
inspection or exchange (nearest authorized service location).

  • Hi,

Back-powering from external 3.3 V (XIAO board) may have damaged
the DK’s on-board regulator or protection circuitry.

If this happened on its own, then it would be a bit odd but things like this could happen. Though yeah, my first thought is that there is something you did that made this happen. So it would be an idea to get an idea what happened here before getting a new one.

Could you show me a picture of the board, just to make sure that there is nothing obvious at fault here? Have you cut any SBs, or anything like that?

    Regards,

    Elfving

  • Hey Elfving, thanks for replying, Actually i've accidently provided the 3v supply from xiao board on devkit vdd pin, which I should'nt.I think it fried the board and when i'm powering up the board, it did'nt recognize by pc and also leds indicating power on is'nt working. Board is totally fine and nothing physically damaged. Actually i don't have much expertise to trace back the fault and repair that? That's why, I'm asking is there any physically service center or any process which can inspect the dev ki and repair it in Pakistan?

  • Ah I see.

No I do not believe there is unfortunately, but I would recommend you to forward this question to your regional sales manager (or let me know if you need their contact info). Though I believe you'll likely have to buy a new one.
