Problem selecting tooclhain 2.9.1

Hi

In nRF Connect, in VSCode, I have several SDKs and Toolchains installed.

For some reason, I cannot select toolchain 2.9.1, or toolchain 3.0.1.

For example, in VSCode:

• New window
• nRF Connect -> Create new application
• Copy a Sample -> SDK 2.9.1
• hello world
• Open, Yes I trust the authors
• nRF Connect -> Build Configuration
• SDK displayed in the dropdown is 2.9.1.
• Toolchain displayed in the dropdown is 2.9.2.
• All the installed toolchains are available in the drop down, but if I select either 2.9.0 or 2.9.1, it remains at 2.9.2

(similarly if I select 3.0.1, it defaults to 3.0.2).

(even 2.6.0 defaults to 2.6.1)

In Manage toolchains, I select Validate toolchain -> SDK 2.9.1, Toolchain 2.9.1 -> No issues.

I have tried fully uninstalling and re-installing 2.9.1 SDK and Toolchain using nRF Connect for Desktop | Toolchain Manager.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

If you specify NCS and Toolchain v2.6.0 in your build configuration, which Toolchain version gets chosen when you start building process?

Well, 2.6.x might be a bad example because I only have the following SDKs installed:

2.9.0, 2.9.1, 2.9.2, 3.02, 3.1.0, 3.1.1, but I have toolchain options for these and 2.4.1, 2.6.0, 2.6.1, 2.7.0.

If I select the lowest SDK I have (2.9.0), and toolhcain 2.6.0, the toolchain defaults to 2.6.1.

The pattern observed seems to be it will only allow the highest patch (major.minor.patch) per minor version - could that be a thing?

Hi,

sdk manager is providing path to a proper Toolchain. For example, both Toolchain v2.9.1 and v2.9.2 are valid picks and they should be seen as identical. From functional perspective, there should be no difference between them.
