ZBOSS zigbee stack integration in Zephyr

I’d like to understand whether the ZBOSS Zigbee stack integration in Zephyr is considered production-grade. My concern arises from the fact that I’m unable to interface Nordic’s Zephyr-based Zigbee applications with third-party tooling directly, and the Zigbee2MQTT documentation notes that ZBOSS adapter support is still experimental and not recommended for production deployments. Could you provide clarification on this?

Hi,

Our Zigbee integration, the Zigbee R23 add-on, is production-ready starting with version 1.0.0. You can see this in the Zigbee R23 add-on release notes.

The Zigbee2MQTT ZBOSS adapter is not developed by Nordic Semiconductor, so we cannot guarantee anything regarding production-grade status. However, it seems to be based on nRF Connect SDK v2.6.0, which is a production-ready version. Please note that this is an older version of the nRF Connect SDK, and the ZBOSS version implemented there is based on revision 22 of the Zigbee specification. We recommend that all new development use revision 23, that is, our Zigbee R23 add-on.

Will the Zigbee R23 add-on support third-party tools such as Home Assistant (ZHA), deCONZ, and similar platforms? Additionally, Nordic’s NCP host implementation is available only on Linux and currently lacks OTA support. Is there any ongoing development for Windows support or expanded Zigbee functionality from Nordic?
