Changing nRF cloud teams

Hello,

I wanted to see if it is possible to move provisioned devices between team IDs in the NRF cloud. Right now I am using a nrf9151 to connect to the cloud. Once the devices are a provisioned and claimed. They reside with a specific team ID. I am have come across a scenario where i need to change that team ID connection, once the device is in the field.

Any recommendation here would be great.

Thank you,

Jack

To transfer an nRF Cloud device from one team to another, you must first remove (delete) the device from the current team, and then add (onboard or associate) it to the new team. Here’s how you can do this:

    1. Delete the device from the current team:

      • Log in to the nRF Cloud portal.
      • Go to Device Management > Devices.
      • Select the device(s) you want to remove and click Delete. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up dialog.
      • This removes the device and its associated data from the current team.
        See detailed steps.
    2. (If applicable) Unclaim the device:
If the device was claimed for provisioning, you may also need to unclaim it so it can be claimed by another user or team:

      • Go to Security Services > Claimed Devices.
      • Select the device and click Unclaim. Confirm the action.
      • Unclaiming does not delete the device if it is already onboarded, so you must still delete it as described above.
        See unclaiming steps.
    3. Add the device to the new team:

      • Log in to the nRF Cloud portal with the new team.
      • Go to Device Management > Devices and use Add Devices to onboard or associate the device with the new team.
        See onboarding steps.

    Note:

    • A device cannot belong to more than one team at a time.
    • Deleting a device from a team removes its association and data from that team.
    • If the device is claimed, unclaiming is necessary for another team to claim and provision it.

If you cannot log in to the original account to perform these steps, you will need to contact Nordic Semiconductor support for assistance, as there is no way to transfer a device between teams without access to the original team’s account [Deleting devices].

Let me know if you need step-by-step guidance for a specific device type or scenario!
