MCU interface necessary in nRF9160 DK?

Hi,

I am trying to build my own board based on the nRF9160 DK. I want to keep both the nRF9160 and the nrf52840 chips on my board. Can these chips talk to each other directly or is it required to keep the MCU interface?

All the code works on the dev kit, I just want to make sure there are no back end work that Nordic is doing in their libraries and tool chains which will have to be stripped out.

This should definitely be possible, but we don't have a full sample showcasing how to use the nRF9151 as the host/master for this. We have a no longer maintained (unfortunately) LTE to BLE gateway sample that you can use for reference: https://github.com/nrfconnect/sdk-nrf/tree/v3.0.0/samples/cellular/lte_ble_gateway.

HCI UART is used for serial communication, but conceptually it's the same to use I.E. SPI if that's of interest.
