Process to use latest ZBOSS stack from nRF5 Connect SDK with nRF5 SDK for Thread and Zigbee

Hello Nordic Support,

Currently, we are using nRF5 SDK for Thread and Zigbee 4.2.0 for our Zigbee coordinator application running on nrf52840.

We understand that this SDK is in maintenance mode. Since we have several devices on field running FW based of this SDK and are noticing some issues, which seem to be from zigbee side, we would like to understand how can we update to the latest zigbee stack that is supported by nrf Connect SDK and use the existing nrf5 SDK. By doing this, we are hoping to get the benefit of latest zigbee stack without consuming too much time to resolve field issues.

Can you please let us know the process for performing this?

Regards,

Anusha

  • Hello Anusha,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the ZBOSS stack from the nRF Connect SDK in an nRF5 SDK application.

If you want to use the ZBOSS stack from NCS, you need to use NCS, but unfortunately, there is no straight way to update from nRF5 SDK to NCS using DFU.

Perhaps you can tell me about the issues that you are seeing in field? Is there any reason to suspect that upgrading to a later ZBOSS stack would fix this?

    Best regards,

    Edvin
