Hi all,
I’m working on a custom board based on the nRF9151, and using the Ignion NN03‑320 antenna for GNSS reception.
In our GNSS TTFF testing (using AT commands), we observed high sensitivity to antenna orientation:
-
When the board is oriented vertically or slightly tilted (~30°), the GNSS is able to acquire a fix reliably (TTFF: ~30s–60s).
-
When the board is laid horizontally (antenna parallel to the ground), we were unable to get a fix (we wait for 4min).
Is this behavior expected for linear GNSS antennas like the NN03‑320? And are there recommendations for improving fix reliability when horizontal mounting is necessary?
Any insight from those who’ve used the NN03‑320 (e.g., in Thingy:91 X or similar designs) or from the Nordic would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
