Determining if a FOTA update is pending

Situation:

A FOTA job has been deployed in the cloud, so an update is ready and pending for a device.

Questions:

• Once a device connects to nRF Cloud, how long should it wait to determine if a FOTA is pending?
• Is there an API or message the device can use to actively query if there is a FOTA pending?

Hi,

CONFIG_REST_FOTA_JOB_CHECK_RATE_MIN configuration option in the nRF Cloud REST FOTA sample is used to define the frequency of checks for FOTA updates.

Devices can initialize polling assistance using nrf_cloud_fota_poll_init() and use nrf_cloud_fota_poll_process_pending() for processing/validating pending FOTA update job.
There is also nrf_cloud_coap_fota_job_get() for getting FOTA job information.
