We are using the NRFJPROG ver 10.24.2 (JLINK Commander ver 8.92) to connect with our NRF52840 target.  It fails to connect, here is the log entries:

Programming did work on this target until we ran a new script using this tool.  All electrical connectivity has been verified between the SWD end points.  We suspect  the APPPROTECT has been set in the UICR.  All documented recovery attempts have failed for example, "nrfjprog -f NRF52 --recover" produces the included log output.

We are not concerned with recovering the firmware, just recovering access vis SWD programmer.

I assume this is a custom board ,if not, please let me know. Have you enabled APPROTECT? If yes, how did you enable it (through the application)? This issue might be related to APPROTECT. Have you tried running nrfutil device recover? If not, please try it and see if it makes any difference.

Yes it is a custom board. We didn't intentionally enable APPROTECT.
