Power Amplifier compatibility

Hi,

We are modifying our existing product and adding PA to increase the range. Device right now is developed with nrf5 SDK, but we have plans to move to NCS. However manufacturer mentioned that there is no PA solution that is compatible between nrf5 SDK and NCS - I am worrited that if we go with nrf5 SDK solution it will be very difficult to move to NCS in the future. Can you suggest a solution here? Maybe actually there is a solution that works with both? Manufacturer said: "If you use NCS, you can only use 2411 or other 3rd PA. If you use Nordic SDK, then you can only sethe Nordic PA." - is this correct?

You mentioned Nordic SDK, did you mean nRF5 SDK ? 
Which exact PA chip you plan to use ?

I believe the SKY66112  is supported by both SDK. 

 Can you use the PA/LNA assist code to have the softdevice toggle more than two pins?

Yes, they mentioned Nordic SDK, but that is basically nrf5 SDK.

I think they suggested using rfx2411 for NCS. Not sure what is "Nordic PA", I followed up with a question and waiting for an answer.

Thank you for suggesting this SKY66112 modue - however can you verify 100% that this is comaptible for both SDKs?

Hi Michal, 

I haven't used the SKY66112 myself but from the tickets on Devzone I can find i can see customer using it with both NRF5 SDK and NCS. It should be OK.
